Brief Catch Up

Having not had my laptop for nearly 3 weeks since it went kaput and something happened to the operating system I have felt lost without it. So I have been busy this weekend uploading the many photos we have taken, sorting through emails and updating my blog.

Our garden is nearly finished, the circular borders have been rendered and Mike has cleverly laid the tiles on the seating areas so now it is looking like the mediterraean vision that we had last summer when we started this project. We will now be able to paint the borders and seat, make some lovely cushions, put the water feature in and plant. We have already christened the new drinking and lounging area with our neighbours last weekend with an evening of wine and guitar serenading from their son Harry.

We have been taking Charlie swimming as his bath has become his all time favourite thing as he goes completely bonkers in the water, arms and legs kicking and splashing. He has started lessons at the local pool and last week he went under water for the first time and came up, somewhat surprised but ok. Now we are going most sundays which means I can also get back to swimming lengths whilst Mike gets him dry. The rest of the week, Charlie and I are out and about socialising, having lunch with friends and generally having a very nice time. Tomorrow I am taking him into my office to meet the rest of my work colleagues followed by lunch out, the rest of week is meeting friends and having lunch out. Maternity leave rocks.

Fantastic Friends Reunion

What a brilliant day we had several Fridays ago when our friends Kellie and Gareth came down south from Cumbria. I had arranged a get together down at the beach with a crowd of all of their good friends plus all of our kids. It was very wierd weather though as the day started with this really heavy, thick sea mist which slowly made its way in land as the afternoon wore on, it really looked like the set of some mad thriller, quite eerie. Then all of a sudden it was gone and the sun appeared and it was absolutely scorching hot.

I had such a fantastic day as it was the first day I had been able to have more than a couple of glasses of wine as I had stopped breastfeeding and so could let my hair down and indulge a bit. It was so great to get everyone together again as well and the kids all loved being with each other running around on the beach, playing Pirates of the Carribean. The BBQ got its first airing of the year and we had a great feast of food. We were also celebrating the fantastic news from our friends Charlie and Spencer who got engaged on a recent trip to New York and after being together for over 20 years, we were all so stunned that they finally made the leap into marriagedom. Hooray for them, we think it is fantastic unlike their son George who was not as impressed at the thought of watching mum and dad kissing and said that weddings are boring.

Charlie was such a good boy and drifted off to the land of nod in his buggy and we wheeled him home later, lifted him into his cot and he didnt make a sound. We love him.
