Happy Family Days

We have had such a lovely weekend. I had Friday off and spent the day with Charlie and my friend Michelle and her son Max. We talked for hours catching up on life and work. Saturday Charlie and I had a day on our own so made the most of the dry weather and had a wonderful walk out through Whitstable doing a bit of shopping, Charlie shouting loudly to every passer by. We ended up at the park where I let Charlie loose on the slides and swings. He is now confidently walking and in his usual ambitious style has taken to now running everywhere. So as the excitement levels stepped up as we arrived at the park he took off at a fast pace heading towards the slide. A few moments later was flat on the floor face down on the AstroTurf. He was easily consoled and a ride on the roundabout did the trick.

Sunday we had a great day at Mikes sisters who is due to have her 3rd baby in the next couple of weeks. We had fabulous roast beef and watched all 3 boys playing in the garden with the football. Charlie once again took off running around after his cousins caked in mud having the best time ever.

Dining Out

Last weekend was our wedding anniversary, 6 years in fact. To celebrate we took Charlie off to my parents for a sleepover at Grandmas house. We then headed back down the motorway to a shopping extravaganza in Canterbury. We had a fantastic day buying clothes and music and lunch out in Wagamamas. Back home we had an afternoon snooze then got dolled up for a night out at a Michelin star restaurant in Canterbury called The Abode www.abodehotels.co.uk. We started with cocktails in their champagne bar and then were seated. The restaurant was very classy and we were pampered by the waiters. The menu was a select few dishes of modern English cuisine and although they were incredibly delicious we were rather disappointed in the very slow service. We waited over an hour fro our main course by which time we had consumed nearly all our bottle of very sumptuous wine and were feeling decidedly drunk. However, we had such a great evening and it was great to go out and treat ourselves. We finished the weekend off having a lovely long lie in on Sunday morning before heading back to Maidstone to pick up Charlie who had had a wonderful time.
