New Year, New Beginnings

Our new years eve celebrations got off to a good start when Mike and I hosted a dinner party for some of our friends. Our bedroom had been turned into a temporary creche for all the kids to stay so once they were all settled the evening began. The food that we served was an extravaganza of a feast from the spanish and mexican corners of the world. In fact we really had gone slightly over the top when we realised there was actually no room for all the dishes on the table. The cocktails and wine flowed and everyone was in good spirits. Afterwards we played board games in front of the fire and saw the new year in watching the fireworks over the London Eye which really were quite amazing.

The following day feeling somewhat tired and jaded, we spent the morning slowly waking and clearing up. Jane and Giovanni stayed with our godson Luca. He had a great time and was very relaxed at our house, in fact so relaxed we all realised that he had been upstaires for quite some time on his own. On further inspection it was revealed the source of his silence, the application of my expensive Chanel lipstick done in a circus style fashion. Cross-dressing seems to be taking on a whole new meaning at this age.

In the afternoon another set of friends arrived for a walk on the beach to blow away the year and welcome in 2007. It was a beautiful day, blue blue sky and so cold, just perfect. Drinks back at ours rounded off the afternoon and then Mike and I, Jane, Giovanni and Luca settled down to a fabulous roast lamb that had been simmering in the oven for 5 hours. Very yummy.

So now we are in 2007,it is a new year for Mike and I with new beginnings and we are very much looking forward to all that it brings.
